The Bookshop Bowral presents lunch with Paul Bangay

  • Centennial Vineyards Restaurant 252 Centennial Road Bowral, NSW, 2576 Australia (map)

Spend an afternoon in the company of revered Australian landscape designer Paul Bangay, as we explore A Diary of an English Garden. Deeply personal and evocative, the book is a lyrical homage to England’s gardening heritage, capturing the daily rhythms of building a garden from scratch.

Journey to the Cotswolds and hear the master gardener reveal the source of his lifelong inspiration, reflect on the differences between conditions in England and Australia, revel in the discipline of centuries-old traditions, and celebrate watching a creation evolve.

Paul will be in conversation with Tanya Buchanan, editor-in-chief of Belle and Country Style.

Top tip: we’ve hosted Paul Bangay before, and his events always sell out. Do move quickly!

About A Diary of an English Garden

For decades, Paul Bangay has looked to the great gardens of England as both touchstone and inspiration - their structure and grandeur shaping his own celebrated work. In this intimate new volume, he finally finds a cottage in the Cotswolds ready for bold reinvention.

Written in diary form, the book captures the daily rhythms of building a garden from scratch. Rich with observation, wit and practical insight, A Diary of an English Garden is a lyrical homage to England's gardening heritage.

Beautifully illustrated and exquisitely designed, this is Paul Bangay at his most reflective and most personal: a master gardener returning to the source of his lifelong inspiration.
